Daniela Whyte
Dear Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship Program,
My name is Daniela Whyte, and I am an LPN in the General Medicine Department at The University of Kansas Health System’s Main Campus in Kansas City, Kansas. With this letter, I wanted to give a warm and genuine thank you to you, as your scholarship program has helped — and will continue to help — individuals pursue their dreams, as well as ease financial hardship while doing so. Being chosen to receive the scholarship came as a complete surprise, but I am grateful to have been given this opportunity.
The Reach for the Stars Nursing Scholarship will open the doors to a great future as an RN for me, and the possible incorporation of changes regarding patient care on a higher level. You see, during my interview I made a point regarding patient care and making sure our patients feel validated, whether that be in person, through telehealth or via messages on our health system portal. It is only natural for some patients to be overwhelmed with feelings, and sometimes it can be hard to find the right words to comfort them. I had the idea of starting a workshop for nurses that would teach and refresh addressing and managing patients through stressful times, so they feel cared for — as well as heard. It can be easy to forget that we are all human, and I would like to continue enhancing the genuine care factor at the health system so we can thrive on exceptional patient care.
Thank you again for this great opportunity, and for continuously supporting The University of Kansas Health System and its employees.
Sincerely,
Daniela Whyte
