Onboarding Resources
Our new employee orientation has been designed to ensure a successful start to your career with The University of Kansas Health System.
When orientation has ended, you will find ongoing support from your manager and co-workers. In addition, our Human Resources team is here to support you in your career.
Below are resources many employees have found helpful in their first 30 days. You may bookmark this page so you can easily refer to it in the coming weeks.
In your first 90 days with the health system, you will receive emails asking for your feedback about your onboarding experience. Surveys are sent at 7, 45 and 90 days of your employment. Your honest feedback will help us improve the experience for future new employees. Look for emails from Glint and know the links are safe to click.

Attire and ID standards
At The University of Kansas Health System, our priorities are high-quality patient care and patient safety. Every day, the way we speak, act and dress make impressions on our patients, their families and visitors. Our overall image of professionalism conveys a message of respect, credibility and quality of care to all who come in contact with our health system.
Our employees should exhibit a courteous, conscientious and professional manner in the workplace. Our attire standards ensure we meet and exceed safety and infection control guidelines. They apply to all employees, all shifts, all sites and all places where we represent the health system (meetings, seminars, etc.). As we are a tobacco-free campus, employee clothing and breath must not smell like smoke. Repeated violations of these standards may result in corrective actions up to and including termination of employment.
ID policy
Each employee is required to wear their health system ID badge above their waist. Your ID badge provides appropriate security access to different areas of the health system based on the responsibilities of your position.
- All staff, employees, volunteers, contractors, vendors, etc., must wear badges on health system properties. Badges must be worn on the upper portion of your chest area.
- ID badges will only include one credential per employee.
- ID badges shall not be altered or defaced in any manner. For example, tape, decorative pins, ornaments and/or other holes are not allowed on the badges.
- ID badges may not be shared or transferred from one person to another.
- Employees are responsible for the safekeeping of their ID badges when not being worn.
- A replacement hospital photo ID badge will be provided at no cost to an employee for normal wear and tear, name changes due to marriage or divorce, or title and department changes.
- Employees will be assessed a payroll deduction of $15 for replacement badges due to negligence, alterations, requesting new photos and lost or stolen badges.
- Employees should submit a completed Badge Request Form to the Campus Badge Office located in Bell Hospital Tower, Room B314. If the employee works at a location not reasonably accessible to the Campus Badge Office, the employee may fax the completed form to 913-588-7798.
All badges will contain the following information:
- Photo
- First and last name
- Credential
- Department name
- Title
- Employee number
Employees who work in Emergency or Psychiatry will have their last name omitted.
