Sculptra® Aesthetic
Decreased collagen production is one of the most common causes of facial volume loss and other visible signs of facial aging. Sculptra® Aesthetic is an extremely effective injectable dermal filler designed to add volume to the face and augment features affected by facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy.
Many people experience a hollow or sunken appearance in the cheeks, temples or around the eyes as a result of volume loss and the natural aging process. Sculptra addresses these issues by reestablishing a new framework for collagen production and restoring a more youthful, contoured aesthetic.
We offer a variety of appointment types. Learn more or call 913-588-1227 to schedule now.
Who can have Sculptra Aesthetic?
Sculptra Aesthetic can be used to correct a variety of cosmetic concerns. You may benefit from Sculptra Aesthetic if you are looking to:
- Gain subtle volume enhancement in sunken or hollow areas of the face
- Improve the appearance of shallow to deep facial creases, such as the nasolabial folds (“smile lines”), marionette lines or chin wrinkles
- Stimulate the body’s natural collagen synthesis and production
How does Sculptra Aesthetic work?
Rather than topically filling individual wrinkles, Sculptra works in the underlying structure of the skin to replace lost collagen and provide a revitalized foundation for gradual volume restoration. Each procedure typically lasts only 30 minutes and a series of treatments is often needed for the best results.
Benefits and risks of Sculptra Aesthetic
Because Sculptra Aesthetic helps rebuild collagen, the results are very long lasting – up to 2 years in some cases. Its biocompatible material also requires no allergy testing and has a very strong safety profile. Sculptra has been approved by the FDA for the correction of nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles.
The risks and side effects of Sculptra are similar to other dermal fillers and include redness, swelling, pain at the injection site, bruising and temporary bleeding. Your injector will explain the risks and benefits during your consultation.
What happens during Sculptra Aesthetic injections?
Sculptra procedures involve injections into targeted areas of the face with a fine needle. The number of injections and sessions required to achieve your desired aesthetic will depend on your cosmetic goals, as well as the amount of collagen lost and your unique anatomic needs.
During treatment, Sculptra is strategically injected into the deep dermis using a fine needle. The treatment site(s) may be massaged after injection to allow an even distribution of the product.
You will likely experience some mild redness, bruising and swelling after Sculptra treatment for a few days. Ice packs and oral pain medications can typically manage discomfort until these side effects resolve. Most people are able to return to work and other activities immediately following the procedure.
Results from Sculptra® Aesthetic are usually not immediate, but you should see significant improvements in facial features over time as new collagen continues to grow. While the cosmetic outcome will vary by person, the general result is a look of increased fullness in regions affected by volume deficits, wrinkling or facial folds. Results can be maintained or enhanced with additional touch-up treatments.
