Upcoming programs in June
Series dates: Tuesdays, June 9-July 7 • 2-3:30 p.m.
Description: The paradox of our current relationship with food is that we obsess about nutrition and weight but are less present for the mealtime experience itself. Our routine mindset has us rushing through meals and eating on autopilot. Slowing down and bringing more attention and intention (mindfulness) to our food world can help us shift gears, embrace food as a gift, aid digestion, manage weight and feel more nourished on multiple levels.
Series dates: Wednesdays, June 10 and 24 • 2-4 p.m.
Description: This interactive class provides a safe place for people who struggle with food to connect with others and gently unpack what is happening with food from a place of curiosity vs. judgment. We’ll explore the multiple issues that coincide with our relationship with food, including emotional eating, deprivation-binge cycles, food boundaries and dieting. You will learn to practice mindfulness, identify unmet needs, build self-care skills and heal your relationship with food. This is not a diet class.
Description: Yoga nidra is deep, conscious sleep. This guided meditation will use full body relaxation techniques, breathing tools and visualizations to decrease stress and quiet an anxious mind.
Dates:
Tuesday, June 23 • 10:30 a.m.-noon
Instructor: Linda Kramer, MA, ATR, Art Therapist
Description: This program is a quiet, safe place to create art to investigate, process and reflect. The intent will be to express emotions and thoughts that are hard to put into words. To prepare for our Zoom class you will need to provide your own materials and tools. The following are suggestions only: 5-20 photographs that you are drawn to cut out from magazines, a box, a journal or vessel of some type that could be covered, heavy and or more absorbent types of paper (a paper sack, a cover of a magazine, etc.), magic markers, scissors, Elmer’s glue, oblique paint, glitter and fabric.
Program date: Tuesday, June 23 • 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Jeff David, CPCU, LUTCF, Jeff David Insurance
Description: Are you or a loved one turning 65 or becoming eligible for Medicare due to a disability? What are Parts A and B of Medicare? How do Medicare supplement plans fill coverage gaps? What is a Plan C, Plan F and Part D (prescription drug plan)? Join us to learn about Medicare PPOs and HMOs. For educational purposes only. No plan-specific benefits will be shared.
