Fecal Incontinence
There are times when ladies lose control of gas or liquid or even solid stools. The muscle that controls the passage of gas and stool may be damaged as a result of childbirth trauma (such as with lacerations or deep cuts in the vagina when the baby is born). Sometimes fixing these cuts may not necessarily correct the damaged muscles adequately and result in weakness of the anus and subsequently the patient will have poor control of gas or stool. Urogynecologists are trained in identifying the weakened anus and treating it.
