Youth Sports Medicine

A sports medicine resource to schools

Many area school districts benefit from an exclusive partnership with the Sports Medicine and Performance Center. We provide a full-time, certified athletic trainer for each school, handling conditioning, rehab and nutritional assistance, and providing coverage for practices and games. They also work closely with school nurses to address athletic injuries during the school day, as needed.

Professionals with The University of Kansas Health System are the sports medicine and athletic training provider for the:

  • Blue Valley School District
  • De Soto School District
  • Lansing School District
  • Shawnee Mission School District

Through these partnerships, students and parents receive:

Concussion experts

Physicians in Kansas City with the Sports Medicine and Performance Center treat concussions in athletes of all ages. They’re also at the forefront of the latest research in sports concussion management. For young athletes, we build an individualized care plan to manage the proper and safe return to the classroom and other activities.

In addition, a multidisciplinary team of physicians at The University of Kansas Health System Center for Concussion Management treats patients with all types of concussions, applying the latest advances in treatment to patients with the most complex cases.
