Jean Stalcup has volunteered at the cancer center's Westwood Campus since we opened the doors in August 2006.
Jean’s personal friendship with Hedy Borrowman, Westwood Information Desk associate, sealed the deal. Jean and Hedy were colleagues at AT&T. There they worked together for more than two decades, forming a friendship that has endured over the years.
Hedy asked Jean if she was interested in volunteering, and Jean accepted the commitment to volunteer as a chance to give back. Because her husband lost his battle with a rare form of cancer, Jean has a natural empathy and a true understanding of what patients and caregivers are going through emotionally.
Loyal and dependable, Jean has missed only a couple of days of volunteering during her tenure as a volunteer. She reserves Tuesdays for volunteering and has amassed an impressive 1,716 hours since she started. She is very giving and caring, and is devoted to the patients and families she serves. Jean not only understands our culture of service, she exemplifies it each and every Tuesday.
